Central Indiana Soaring Society at Alexandria, Indiana is hosting the Women Soaring Society's 2008 Seminar.
Submitted by Cheryl Beckage and Marty Hudson, Seminar Chairs

Looking for a fun soaring event this summer? Mark your calendars for June 23 to June 27 for the 2008 WSPA seminar. This is your annual opportunity to meet with other women (and a few men) who share your interest in soaring, explore other soaring sites, and expand your own soaring skills. What better place to venture cross-country than one with many safe places to land!!

CISS was founded in 1960 with less than ten pilots. After two moves and forty-seven years, it now has over seventy active soaring pilots at Knotts' Field, Alexandria. The club has hosted two successful Soaring Society of America National Conventions, one in 1990 and another in 2001. This will be its third hosting of a national event.
The club has two Pawnee tow planes with five or more tow pilots, two Blanik L-23's and a Grob 103 that are available for use by seminar participants. In addition, there are two single-place ships, a PW5 and a Grob 102. Other ships may be recruited for seminar use. There will be at least four CFIGs available for attendees.

As usual, building additional flying skills will be a focus of this year's WSPA seminar. Class sessions focusing on thermalling techniques and cross country techniques in flat terrain are planned as well as on other topics. Expect some visits from some WWII airplanes, parachute jumpers and other surprise guests. Opportunities for some new experiences will be offered, as well.

Plan your trip now - this will be an exciting event! The best commercial flight options to reach Alexandria will be either Fort Wayne International Airport or Indianapolis International Airport in Indianapolis. Both are about 90 minutes drive by interstate highways. A rental car will be necessary to reach our field. You may want to communicate with other attendees to share a ride.
Dorms will be available at the following great prices:
3 beds to a room:    $17 a day
2 beds to a room :   $27 a day
$5.00  fee for bed linens for the week.
A deal that you can't pass up.
